# Getting your calls in

> Paste a transcript, connect a recorder, or let Claude hand them over.

Everything Mallin writes comes from your calls, so this is the one thing worth setting up properly. There are three ways in and you can mix them. If you already work in Claude, start with the third.

## Paste a transcript

Open **Add a call**, name the company, paste the transcript, and say when the call happened. If the company is already a deal, attach it there and the brief is rebuilt rather than started fresh.

Mallin then reads the call and writes the brief. It says *this takes a few minutes, keep this tab open*, and it means it. A long call can take five.

> **Keep the speaker names.** Most transcripts arrive as "Speaker 1" and "Speaker 2". If yours has real names in it, leave them. Mallin can tell who raised an objection and who went quiet only when the transcript says so.

## Connect a recorder

If your calls are already recorded, connect the recorder once and stop pasting. In **Settings and integrations**:

| Recorder | What it gives you |
| --- | --- |
| Fathom | Your calls, without the paste. |
| Fireflies | Your calls, without the paste. Works with Meet, Zoom and Teams. |
| Zoom | Mallin reads the transcript Zoom already made for your cloud recordings. |

Each person connects their own recorder, the same way each person connects their own mailbox.

## Let Claude hand them over

This is the one most people miss, and it needs no integration from us at all. If your notetaker already has a Claude connector of its own, Claude can read the call from that connector and file it into Mallin directly.

Connect Mallin in Claude (see [Mallin inside Claude](/help/claude-connector)), then ask: *catch Mallin up on my calls*. Three things happen:

1. **Claude asks your notetaker what happened.** A notetaker is a better source than a calendar: a calendar says a meeting was booked, a notetaker says a call took place, who was on it and what was said.
2. **Claude asks Mallin what it already has.** Mallin answers with the calls it has filed, so nothing is handed over twice.
3. **The difference gets filed.** Claude passes the missing transcripts to Mallin, which files each one against its deal and rebuilds that brief.

Whatever your team records with, if it has a Claude connector it is already a way into Mallin. Nothing to build, nothing to authorize on our side. It works the same way for anything else Claude can reach: a transcript in a document, a recap someone emailed you, notes you typed yourself.

> **The one limit.** This happens when you ask, inside a conversation. Mallin cannot reach into your notetaker on its own, and nothing runs overnight on your connection. Make it the first thing you ask on a Monday, or connect a recorder as well so the calls arrive without anyone remembering.

## Two things people hit

### The same call twice

Paste a transcript Mallin already has and it recognizes it rather than filing a duplicate. You can hand over a batch without checking what is already in there.

### It landed on the wrong deal

When you attach a call, the form offers the deal you worked on most recently. That is usually right and occasionally very wrong, and nothing yet checks the names in the transcript against the deal you picked. Read that line before you submit.

If one lands in the wrong place, tell us in the help panel. Moving a call is something we do by hand today, and it takes a few minutes.
